SoSe 19: HS-Negotiating Gender: Subjects without Selves
Andreas Mahler
Comments
The seminar, which is conceived as a research seminar and is offered in compulsory combination with the tutorial on ‘Literature and Anthropology’, will focus on Gabriele Schwab's book on Subjects without Selves (Harvard UP, 1994) as its point of departure to explore the innovative ways and means in which subjectivity is represented and/or presented in narratives especially after the turn to the twentieth century. Participants are requested to familiarise themselves (before the seminar begins) with the standard narrative poetics in order to be able to describe how techniques of creating subjectivity are used, developed and transformed for a potential widening of the conceptual range of human perception in and through fiction. close
