        ONLINE COURSE ----- The seminar will address various ways to describe individuals in modernity: by way of psychological classifications, by conceptions of self-growth or by processes of mediation between self and other. Before sociology and social psychology were institutionalized as academic disciplines, literary texts and philosophical treatises were the most important medium by which a society reflected about individuality. Today, there is a constant exchange between academic discourses of knowledge and literary texts.  The seminar will address literary texts and philosophical and sociological concepts from the 19th until the 21st century. Introductory reading:
