Kommentar
The seminar, which is offered in combination with its tutorial, will try to explore aspects of the difficult medium of prose, which seems to be in everybody’s hands without being on anybody’s mind. Questions to be discussed will be: (1) the origin of prose as ‘prose’; (2) the rhetorical organization of prose; (3) the flight from rhetorics; (4) cohesion and coherence in prose; (5) prose as ‘spontaneous’, ‘fluid’ writing. Authors to be discussed will be Montaigne/Florio, Swift, Sterne, Beckett, Joyce (and others, according to suggestions made by participants). Schließen
