The students interested in the course should register themselves in the Blackboard system in order to be able to get the teaching material and weekly exercises. The first appointment will take place on 21.04.2020; the further sessions will be taught both per WebEx and per Blackboard. The students will be supplied with learning material for the class. This course is primarily designed to introduce students to the research methods applicable in modern Iranian Studies. Students from the BA and MA levels and doctoral candidates, as well as the students of other disciplines, who plan the first steps of or have already started their research projects will benefit from the course. The seminar offers in-depth discussions of theoretical framework of various interdisciplinary research methods, such as field research, participant observation, conducting qualitative interviews, survey and questionnaires, grounded theory and coding, and others. This course aims to introduce students to the methods applicable besides written, also to oral, visual, and material sources. The participants of the course will be supported in writing research questions, identifying and solving methodological questions pertaining their own research project; and it aims to help students develop the ability to critically evaluate academic work.
