In Part I of the seminar, we discuss the Supreme Court’s role in US politics and explore the relationship between the Supreme Court and society. In Part II, we zoom in on a crucial link between the Supreme Court and the general public – the news media. We deepen our understanding of the current media environment and newsroom norms and routines before we turn to media coverage of the Supreme Court. This second part of the course will be more practice oriented and we will focus on developing reliable and reproducible codebooks for qualitative content analysis. close
