Comments
In the field of archaeology often exchange relationships, contacts, interactions between individuals or groups of individuals are under debate. However, one of the basic principles of communication, the transport of people or objects, is rarely the focus of interest. Numerous means of transport such as carts, boats, horses or oxen are also known from archaeological contextes and offer insight into technical knowledge as well as economic conditions. Routes are also investigated in a variety of ways, including the archaeological remains of built roads/paths as well as the transfer of raw materials and semi-finished products. In the seminar, selected literature will be used to develop theoretical principles on the topic and case studies will be dealt with in presentations. The seminar will be accompanied by a lecture series and the programme will be announced at the beginning of the summer semester. close
