Comments
Patterns of Classical Chinese (wenyanisms) are widely used in Modern Mandarin. The deeper non-native Chinese learners immerse themselves in their studies, the more obvious they witness an exceptional density of contemporary language with classical expressions, vocabulary and even grammatical devices, whether it be written texts of various genres and registers or spoken performances in formal and informal settings. This course gives a practical overview of the most essential lexical, grammatical and idiomatic elements of Classical Chinese, “revived” and frequently found in the current printed or digital media as well as in the daily common parlance.
