Additional information / Pre-requisites
N.B. Due to the current situation, this course will be taught on-line and any field trips are cancelled until further notice.
Comments
This course is limited to a group of max. 20 MA students in art history, who already have some background in modern and contemporary art. The course will consist of gallery, studio and museum visits within Berlin (e.g. Berlin Biennale) during which we will take stock of current developments and debates in the contemporary art world. The students will be directly involved in selecting exhibitions, artists, critics and curators to visit and meet. Our field trips to exhibitions and studios will be preceded by student presentations in the seminar. The output of the seminar will consist of an ‘art journal’, written and edited by the students, consisting of reviews, interviews, essays, etc., based on the seminar’s various activities. As a result, students enrolled in this course must be prepared for full participation (including the writing/editing of some texts). Students should also be aware that the organizational schedule may need to be flexible due to our off-campus trips. Course language: German and English. close
