In archeology, nearly all activities from excavation to heritage management
and research relate to space.
A so-called geographic information system, a GIS, is a versatile software
for capturing, editing, analyzing, displaying and saving spatial data.
The course will introduce you to the free GIS Quantum (QGIS).
Some keywords: structure of GIS files (layer and workspaces); grid and
vector data; mapping point data; connecting attribute tables and spatial
objects; import of data; editing objects; intersection of features; base level
analysis of point patterns and spatial field data. close
