Wolfram Schier

Comments

Pottery is the most frequent category within material culture in many archaeological contexts. Its analysis not only provides clues for dating, but fosters various functional, social and economic interpretations beyond dating. This, however, requires a basic knowledge of the production and decoration of pottery, its morphological variability and functionality, but also its social and symbolic dimensions. In the course techniques and design of pottery production will be treated as well as the archaeological documentation (description, classification, drawing, photographic and 3D-documentation) using both introductory lectures and practical exercises. close
