Teacher training students coach teacher training students - a higher education didactic peer coaching project on analysis and linear algebra
Do you still remember the terms from the lectures in the first semester?
Do you feel able to establish a relationship between the concept of derivation at school and the definition of differentiability from Analysis I? In this seminar we want to look at and further develop material together in order to build a bridge between school and university mathematics in analysis and linear algebra.
To this end, we design "concept workshops", in which the Bachelor's degree students from the lectures Analysis I and Linear Algebra I can get to know the terms in a didactically prepared way. The aim is to establish links between university mathematics and the content of later schools. The Bachelor students should experiment with the (initially unintuitive) definitions and thus get a better feeling for the terms. The workshops designed by us in the seminar are offered as (voluntary) additional tutorials (spread over the semester on seven dates).
What's in it for us? We get to know mathematics in a new and more sustainable way and test the implementation of didactic methods in concrete terms.
Prerequisite for the seminar: You should roughly remember the basic concepts of analysis or linear algebra (we will learn the rest during preparation and peer coaching...) and bring some fun to mathematics.
Dates: The seminar comprises two full-day block dates (in arrangement with the seminar group optionally two from 20., 21., 27., 28. April 2018. The seminar takes place on these two block dates from 9 to 16 o'clock. In addition, seven three-hour workshop dates are planned for the course of the semester; these are determined in consultation with the seminar group.
