"The History of Art in Changing Functions", or "Art and Function" for short, is an Internet learning program that offers an overview of art history in 30 chapters with the special question of the function of art. The programme is an obligatory part of the Bachelor's programme in the first two semesters. In accordance with the introductory courses, the first semester is primarily devoted to the visual arts, the second to architecture. The certificates of achievement are awarded via two examinations, which take place centrally at the end of each semester. "Art and Function" can be individually worked on independent of time and place. A weekly tutorial accompanies the course, in which questions are clarified and the respective contents of the chapters are discussed. "Art and Function" can be found at http://www.kunst-und-funktion.de. An official FU Berlin e-mail account is required for dialing in. Please select Freie Universität Berlin from the DFN list and log in with your FU account. close
