Lecture
SoSe 20: V-Colonial and Postcolonial Literatures: Postcolonial Theory
Stephan Laqué
Comments
Postcolonial theory analyzes the lingering effects of colonial oppression and thereby addresses pivotal issues of our globalised world. It has adopted terms such as ‘hybridity’ and ‘mimicry’ from other disciplines and turned them into new and influential concepts. Starting from Edward Said's seminal text Orientalism, this lecture will follow the trajectory of postcolonial theory from the 1980s to the present day.
