Following the terrorist attacks in Nice and Vienna in the winter of 2020, the term "political Islam" is increasingly being discussed. How does the term relate to radicalization and how does it differ from Islamism or Islamist fundamentalism? Who are the masterminds and central actors of political Islam in the European and non-European area (historically and currently)? Which central sources do they refer to (text sources/ Internet, etc)? How does it affect communities in Europe and which reaction mechanisms can be observed? The master seminar discusses basic texts, terminologies, organizational structures, as well as transnational discourse and actor contexts in order to be able to classify the socio-political relevance and the debates on "Political Islam". close
