SoSe 21: Biographies in Transition

Julia Glathe

Comments

This course addresses processes of social change through biographical research perspectives. We will explore, both theoretically and through empirical research, how social change shapes biographies and how social events and dynamics are experienced and remembered biographically. In the first part, we will introduce the basics of narrative biographical research and critically discuss the concepts of 'remembering' and 'memory'. In the second part, we will deal with empirical research focusing on Central and Eastern Europe and East Germany. In the third part, we will develop and conduct our own narrative interviews and discuss the results together. close
