SoSe 21: Dimensions of Inequality: Race, Class, Gender
Christian Lammert
Comments
The course will discuss the concept of inequality in three major dimensions: race, class and gender. The focus will be on how those different dimensions of inequality interact with each other and how the (welfare) state in the US is trying to reduce or enforce those inequalities. We will discuss the concepts of race, class and gender from an analytical and empirical perspective. A large part of the course is dedicated to social and welfare policy but we will also discuss structural racism, social mobility and the criminal justice system. close
