SoSe 21: Data analysis with R

Roland Toth

Comments

Data analysis is an essential skill for quantitative scientific work, is highly regarded in other professional contexts, too, and provides great benefits. While SPSS, Stata etc. are statistical software, R is a programming language and enables flexible data preparation, analysis, visualization and documention without restrictions. R is free, open-source, and does not require a paid licence - another advantage, especially in a professional context. Thousands of free-to-download packages allow statistical analyses of all kinds. In the seminar, participants will be introduced to R/RStudio and programming and will perform exercises involving secondary analyses. The goal is the ability to perform data preparation, manipulation and analysis autonomously. To achieve this, the most important basics of programming and uni-, bi-, and multivariate analysis methods (including theoretical aspects) will be applied in a hands-on experience in R. Due to the current pandemic, this seminar will take place online in live sessions. Further information will be provided in Blackboard after admission. close
