The role of the financial system in the process of economic development is discussed in a variety of ways. It ranges from barriers to access to financial services for poorer sections of the population, to liberal criticism of financial repression, to the discussion of exchange rate regimes and capital controls as well as the role of official development finance. The lecture offers an overview on the most important topics. The lecture will be hold in English and German. close
