Introduction
SoSe 21: : Imagining Dionysus: Gods, Mortals, and Myths from Archaic Greek Poetry to the End of Classical Antiquity
Emrys Bell-Schlatter
Comments
This course examines depictions of Dionysus in Greek and Roman texts and images from the archaic period to the end of antiquity. Special attention will be paid to the way in which the different depictions of the god relate to their literary and religious context and, especially, to the changing ways of imagining and theorising about the gods in the ancient world over the span of nearly a millennium. Class discussion will be conducted in German. close
