Australia today is a predominantly white society which is increasingly becoming aware of the injustice and repression which has been inflicted on the indigenous population over the last centuries. In this seminar we will be looking at different perspectives on the postcolonial situation of Australia by focussing on such issues as origin, belonging, whiteness, racism, and transnationalism. The first text we will be discussing is David Malouf’s Remembering Babylon
