Comments
The course will discuss the recent state of Democracy in the United States with a strong focus on the role of the State. We will take a broader look at ideas, perception and results of state actions in the United States and will discuss the different dimension leading up to what is discussed as the crisis of democracy in United States. The First part will take a closer look at the state of democracy in America in a comparative and conceptual perspective. The second part will look at State-Market relations and the role of the state in (re)distributing economic resources. The final part will reconstruct and discuss the recent “Crisis of Democracy” debate. close
