SoSe 22: Byzantine Coins: An Introduction to the Byzantine Trade System an Coinage
Yasaman Rezaei
Kommentar
The study of the coins and their transformation provides us with some insights and information about the cultural and religious background of the people who designed and made them. Moreover, the transformation of the coinage industry reflects contemporaneous economic conditions. In this course, the history of Byzantine coinage will be studied which is divided into five periods. The most prominent feature of the first period was the use of gold which was gradually replaced with pure silver in the last period.
