SoSe 22: The Geopolitics of NATO
David Bosold
Comments
In this seminar, I initially intended to focus on a (seemingly?) diverging assessment of the (global) geopolitical situation by NATO members in North America and Europe since the late-2000s and early 2010s – ranging from Barack Obama’s “pivot to Asia” to Emmanuel Macron’s comment of NATO as being “brain dead”.
Against the backdrop of the Russian war against Ukraine, I have decided to put a stronger emphasis on the history of geopolitics while also addressing related aspects such as great power politics and deterrence. Please be aware that the assigned readings may be very disturbing.
