The aim of this course is to continue to prepare students to use English effectively in public forums. We will first focus on the rhetoric of public speaking, with students expected to deliver powerful, inspirational speeches to the rest of the class; we will then focus on effective use of English in the professional sphere, with particular emphasis on developing the written and oral skills necessary in formal situations such as job applications and interviews. Each student will be required to submit a portfolio of documents required for applying for a job: letter of application and a CV. Students will also be required to take part in a simulated job interviews, and in the discussion and analysis that follows each interview session.
The requirement for participation in the course is the successful completion of the first part of the module.
