Zugangsvoraussetzungen: Erfolgreiche Absolvierung des Moduls Synoptische Meteorologie sowie des Moduls Analysis.
Qualifikationsziele: Die Studentinnen und Studenten sind mit der angewandten Hydrodynamik und Thermodynamik in der Meteorologie vertraut. Sie verstehen das meteorologische Grundgleichungssystem und können die Begriffe der Skalen, Erhaltungsgrößen und Windapproximationen im meteorologischen Kontext anwenden.
Inhalte: Atmosphärische Thermodynamik, Zustandsänderungen atmosphärischer Luft, Statik der Atmosphäre, polytrope Atmosphären, Wasserdampf und latente Wärmen, Grundlagen der Kinematik, Herleitung der prognostischen Grundgleichungen der Meteorologie aus der klassischen Hydrodynamik und Thermodynamik, Skalenbegriffe in der Meteorologie, Lagrangesche und Eulersche Darstellung, natürliche Koordinaten, grundlegende Gleichgewichte (geostrophischer Wind, zyklostrophischer Wind, Gradientwind).
