        Phenomenology - the philosophical study of experience and consciousness - was one of the major twentieth-century philosophical movements which shaped the study of religion, literature and psychology. In this course, we will engage in a close reading of one of the first attempts at a phenomenology of the Qur’an and the Prophet Muhammad, Le Phénomène coranique (1947), by the Algerian intellectual Malek Bennabi (1905-1973).         close
