Psychophysiology refers to a collection of methods for measuring physiological reactions in relation to psychological events and processes by non-invasive procedures. The measurement of changes in electrical activity is most closely related to psychophysiology. This comprises brain activity Electroencephalogram (EEG), Event-Related Potentials (ERPs), as well as a variety of additional measurements, such as Electrodermal activity (EDA), Electrocardiogram (ECG), Electrooculogram (EOG), and Electromyography (EMG). While electrical changes will be the emphasis of this course due to their relative accessibility, psychophysiology also encompasses applications.
This course will introduce you to basic psychophysiological concepts and laboratory procedures, as well as some of the research and practical challenges that have been addressed using psychophysiological techniques. close
