Comments
In the light of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, I have rearranged the content of this seminar by integrating the topic of masculinity and nationalism, while reducing the classes on Esping-Andersens typology and the subsequent debates. The focus is now more on Central and Eastern Europe, Ukraine and Russia. We combine theoretical conceptualizations with empirical insights about the interaction of gender regimes, nation building and social policies. We will discuss why “gender” has become a major issue in the rise of right-wing populism or illiberal conservatism. close
