SoSe 23: Abolition Feminism (Englisch)

This English-language seminar will give advanced students in philosophy and related fields the opportunity to engage in-depth with key thinkers and texts in Black, Indigenous, Third World, postcolonial, decolonial, queer +
trans* of color feminist theory and practice in transnational perspective.
Through close readings and interactive classroom discussions, students will learn to identify key stakes, interconnections, and divergences across contexts and bodies of thought. An emphasis will be placed on the intertwined histories and present of abolitionist, anticolonial, anticapitalist, and antiracist ideas and mobilizations for social change.
Enrolled students are expected to complete extensive readings prior to each session, hold at least one presentation, and participate in classroom discussions in a self-reflective manner that is conducive to learning. Prior knowledge is helpful but not required.
