WiSe 12/13: S-Lit. Stud.: Periods-Genres-Concepts: Literary Authorship
Wolfram Keller
Kommentar
The author, presumed dead for most of the second half of the last century,
has made a powerful comeback in literary scholarship over the course of
the last decade or so. At the beginning of this course, we will revisit
the debates about the death of the author: what led to her or his death
and eventual resurrection. Subsequently - and with reference to recent
work in authorship studies - we will ask what it meant to be an author in
several periods, from the medieval *auctor* to the enlightened author.
While we will mainly focus on critical discussions, among theorists of
authorship as well as authors themselves, we shall also look at literary
texts in order to engage with literary representations of authorship.
