Kommentar
The series of lectures will give an introduction to the questions and approaches in (British) Cultural Studies. After a discussion of the different concepts of 'culture' and the development of Cultural Studies, the lectures and the discussions will mainly focus on contemporary cultural phenomena (e.g. constructions of Britishness, popular culture, youth culture, constructions of masculinity and femininity etc.) as represented in different genres and media. These topics will serve as examples for studying the basic theories and methods of Cultural Studies.
