WiSe 13/14: Topics in the Russian Economy

The course deals with current topics in economic research having a special focus on issues that are relevant for the Russian Federation. If students are interested, also other East European regions might be covered. Mainly papers that have been published recently will be discussed in the course - both from Western as well as Russian authors. That might include studies from international organisations such as the IMF, World Bank, OECD and EBRD. Students are requested to hold a presentation and to write a seminar paper.
Possible topics: financial markets, international trade, natural resources, political economy/ institutions (corruption), economic growth.
