Martina Dieckhoff
Comments
The subject of this seminar is labour market Sociology in a cross-nationally comparative perspective. We will start with a general introduction to labour market theories. Subsequently, we will focus on the following topics: labour market entry, mobility, unemployment, and gender inequality in labour market outcome. By means of international comparison, the important role of labour market institutions in shaping labour market outcomes and inequalities therein will be studied. A central learning goal this seminar will be to confront research question, theoretical foundations and empirical analyses with each other. Much of the empirical literature we will discuss in class is based on quantitative analyses.
Exam: Seminar paper (c. 3000 words) or three short essays (c. 1000 words each).
