WiSe 13/14: SI:Theoriegel. Forschen und Handeln: Brücke zw. Praxis u. Theorie

The first focus of "Theoriegeleitetes Forschen und Handeln" will be "brain matters". Discovering findings from research, esp. neuroscience, the participants can improve their understanding of the learning process, and discuss possible applications of the findings to the EFL-classroom. Thus, several topics will be covered, including amongst others emotions and learning, corrective feedback, language learners with ADHD.
Secondly, the course will be dedicated to Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) as a dual-focused educational approach in which a foreign or second language is used for the learning and teaching of both content and language. This part of the seminar will pay attention to theories concerning different school subjects as well as advantages and disadvantages of this particular didactical approach.
Finally, the course will take into account major empirical findings on factors that influence learning, and provide information on Action Research as a useful tool for teachers.
