WiSe 13/14: The Political Thinking of Hannah Arendt
Wolfgang Heuer
Comments
A reading course based on close, live classroom reading of selected texts of Hannah
Arendt. The seminar will serve as a practicum in the exercise of political
understanding. Systematic examination of core principles and assumptions will be
emphasized through Arendt's writings on the nature of politics, responsibility,
nationalism and totalitarianism, and the public realm. The seminar is co-organized
by Fred Dewey, an independent Los Angeles-based writer and activist whose book "The School of Public Life" is out this fall. close
