WiSe 16/17: Ultrafast Laser Physics
Marcus Vrakking
Kommentar
In this seminar series, we will discuss a number of topics in connection with modern ultrafast laser techniques. Possible topics that we will discuss in the seminar will the design of ultrafast lasers (including recent developments such as Optical Parametric Chirped Pulse Amplifiers), laser pulse characterization methods, implementations of pump-probe spectroscopy, the behavior of atoms and molecules in intense laser fields, high-harmonic generation in gas and solids as a method to generate femtosecond and attosecond pulses in the extreme ultra-violet (XUV) and soft X-ray regime, free electron lasers as an alternative technique to access this wavelength regime, and the application to femtosecond and attosecond XUV/X-ray pulses to various problems in atomic, molecular and condensed phase physics.
