WiSe 16/17: Korea in East Asia: Postcolonial Studies and Kyoto School
Hye Young Kim
Kommentar
The discourse on the history of humanities, especially philosophy in modern Korea, is inevitably related to postcolonial studies and the influence of the Kyoto School. This course aims to analyze this phenomenon by introducing theories and reading texts on postcolonial studies, the Kyoto School, and critiques on these issues in the context of humanities in Korea. In this framework, the history of Western philosophy in Korea will be introduced, which will reflect on how German philosophy was accepted by Japanese philosophers and spread to Korea with Japanese-translated concepts of philosophy. Topics will include: General Study of Postcolonialism, Postcolonial Studies in Korea, Introduction to the Kyoto School, Influence of the Kyoto School on Philosophy in Korea. Schließen
