WiSe 16/17: Rampage School Shootings in the United States
Anne Nassauer
Comments
In this seminar we will discuss research on rampage school shootings in the United States and conduct our own analyses on the subject. The first part of the seminar will discuss research findings on different potential factors for shootings, including mental illness, access to firearms, social rejection, media contagion and community factors. In the second part students will conduct their own research projects in which they analyze specific US shooting events in light of these factors. In an outlook, we will discuss potential measures to prevent rampage school shooting events. Be advised that this will be a reading and work-intensive seminar.
