WiSe 16/17: Introduction to Theories and Methods in Political Science

This course introduces MA students to the main theoretical and methodological approaches used within political science. The seminar will address questions from the philosophy of science (e.g. what is causation and (how) can it be evidenced?), it discuss research design, it reviews core theoretical positions within political science, and it introduces students to the strengths and limitations of an array of qualitative research methods. The central goal of the seminar is to enable students to create and critique methodologically sophisticated research designs. close
