Vorkenntnisse aus Analysis, Lineare Algebra und Numerik sind vorausgesetzt. Wahlweise Kenntnisse aus Stochastik, dynamischer Systeme, oder Numerik von gewöhnlicher und partieller Differentialgleichungen sind von Vorteil.

Transfer operators can be used for the analysis of complex dynamical systems, which arise for instance in molecular dynamics, oceanography, atmospheric sciences, and electrical networks.
