This course introduces students to the basic concepts and methods in the study and description of language. We will be looking at the basic levels of linguistic analysis such as phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics. We will also be looking into where these overlap and briefly address where linguistics cuts into other disciplines. The course is taught in English; terminology will be introduced in English. Course requirements are regular attendance, weekly readings & homework and a final exam.
