Qualifikationsziele:
At the end of the module, students will have familiarized themselves with several basic concepts of community ecology and how to apply them on real data. Many of these tools (such as identifying indicator species, comparing diversity across samples) may be of practical value in conservation ecology and as such can strengthen the applied skills of the participants.
Inhalt:
The seminar part will introduce the participants to the concepts of plant community ecology. In the practical section the participants will be trained to analyze data, either originating from existing datasets or data that was collected during the course, with the open source program R. Practical work will be coupled to paper discussions. Previous experience with the statistical package R is highly desirable but not mandatory for the completion of the course. close
