Comments

This course offers a detailed examination of China’s environmental crisis. The early sessions place the topic in context by examining pollution trends and patterns in China over time. This is followed by a discussion of pollution policies and laws, governmental implementation and enforcement practices. We will also look at the ways individuals perceive of pollution and the environment around them before turning to a consideration of how citizens and civil society groups have organized to combat environmental degradation. The course concludes with a return to the global context by examining the far-reaching international political and economic dimensions of China’s recent efforts to green growth. close
