Using an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza as an example, we will perform an exercise of animal disease control by preparing the required clinical examinations and laboratory tests, plan control measures such as vaccination or culling, establish restriction zones and submit the required reporting to the national animal disease database (TSN). We also learn how we can protect us from infection with avian influenza viruses in affected poultry holdings, how transmission to unaffected holdings can be avoided and how poultry can be culled after an animal disease outbreak in accordance with animal welfare regulations. close
