WiSe 17/18: The Supernatural in Japanese Culture

The course will will be taught in English, but students can write their term papers in German.
Kommentar
The course concentrates on the development and realization of the idea of the supernatural in Japanese culture, from ancient discourses on deities and ghosts to recent productions of commercial horror. It will consist of lectures and seminar sessions, dedicated to particular texts that the students will read in English. These will include both original texts by Japanese authors (classical and contemporary) and articles by researchers of Japanese culture. Schließen
