Man/woman has been called the ‘telling animal’. Whatever can be turned into a story promises meaning and explication. If this is what can be called ‘natural narration’, the field of artistic narration is where this faculty is expanded and explored. The lecture will focus on the main categories, and functions, of narrative(s), with a special view to narratives in English. close
