The aim of this seminar is to examine the history of architecture and urban planning in the Arab World in the longue durée under a perspective that embraces different times, contexts, societies and geographies. The idea is to confront the history of built forms and urban settlments to various fields of research, like those pertaining to the circulation of influences, to the interaction between society and the built environment or to the relationship between political forms, conflicts, ideologies and architectural and urban forms.
The seminar in English is followed by a session in Arabic dedicated to the study of a specific text connected to the subject of the seminar.
