WiSe 17/18: Entzündungsregulierung bei bakteriellen Zoonosen

Stefan Schwarz, Marcus Fulde

Information for students

Blockveranstaltung am Wochenende

Additional information / Pre-requisites

The seminar will focus on cellular and molecular mechanisms which regulate inflammation during relevant bacterial zoonoses. Inflammation represents a key biological process which modulates local and systemic responses upon infection. Strategies employed by pathogens to interfere with and modulate inflammation for their own benefit and establishment of infection will be detailed for selected microbes, such as Mycobacterium spp., Salmonella spp., Brucella spp., Leptospira spp. and Francisella tularensis. The seminar aims at providing a global view on type of and regulation of inflammatory processes accompanying bacterial zoonoses and will emphasize how bacteria evolved to interfere with a 'host-preserving' biological process, namely inflammation close
