The module Basic Principles of Computer Engineering is the basis for the understanding of the functioning of real computer systems.
Starting with logic, this module deals primarily with the topics of switching networks and switching, logic minimization, gates, flip-flops, memories, automata and simple hardware design.
Furthermore, basic knowledge in the fields of DC and AC networks, semiconductors, transistors, CMOS, operational amplifiers, A / D converters and D / A converters are provided, as far as they are necessary for computer science.
In the course of the internship, the practical lessons learned in the lecture as well as in the module Computer Architecture, Operating and Communication Systems are deepened.
Based on a simple hardware platform with a processor and various interfaces, the participants will learn how to program elementary drivers, expand operating system routines and control the interfaces.
Subsequently, the systems are to be networked and interact with their environment.
