WiSe 18/19: V-Lit. Stud.: Periods-Genres-Concepts I
Andreas Mahler
Kommentar
The term ‘modernism’ refers to the period around and after 1900 when the belief in the representability of the ‘world’ as something being outside the text slowly but ever more efficiently begins to crumble. This has been described under the label of an ‘epistemological skepticism’ paving the way to an ‘ontological’ one, characteristic of what has come to be called ‘postmodernism’ (McHale). The lecture will take up this drift towards partialization, doubt and negation, and explore its impact on writing and the literary making of worlds and texts. Schließen
